Brinkley School District is applying for the Arkansas 21st Century Community Learning Center (21CCLC) Grant for the 2023-2024 school year. 21st CCLC grant funds are awarded through a competitive grant process based on the implementation of research-based academic improvement practices through collaborative efforts between schools, community-based organizations, faith-based organizations, and other eligible entities.

The 21st CCLC program supports the creation of community learning centers that provide academic enrichment during non-school hours for children. The program helps students meet state and local student standards in core academic subjects, such as reading and math; offers students a broad array of enrichment activities that can complement their regular academic programs; and offers literacy and other educational services to the families of participating children.

The district is conducting a needs assessment survey and gathering input from students, parents, staff, and other community stakeholders to develop a program that best meets the needs of the school and community. Any guardian of homeschooled students or students in private schools in the area is also invited to help participate in the development of the grant proposal and operation of the grant if awarded.
